• Salsa contest is created and run by Twin Valley Junior Iron Chefs and Wilmington Works, and will take place on Saturday June 16, at Historic Memorial Hall. 

  • All entries must have a recipe. Recipes must be strictly followed. All copyrighted recipes (from a cookbook etc.) must include the source.

  • Entries must be prepared off site.  Registered teams will be given a 7x7 foot area to serve from.  You must provide your own table, and are welcome to bring a tent.

  • Set Up begins at 4:00 pm with 4:30 Show Time.  Salsa contest goes until 7:00pm, or when salsa runs out, and votes will be counted directly after.  Winners announced at 7:30 at conclusion of event.

  • A team may consist of up to 2 members. An adult must accompany any contestant under the age of 18.

  • Teams must sign up in advance. How much to make?  Minimum of 2 gallons – we recommend making 3 gallons because if you run out you will get fewer votes!

  • All ingredients and equipment, serving utensils needed are the responsibility of the contestant.  There are minimal clean up facilities on site. Please bring wet and dry rags.  Napkins, chips in bowls and 2 oz portion cups will be provided to judges.

  • In case of slightly inclement weather, you are welcome to bring a tent to cover your space. If it's really wet, we'll set up inside Memorial Hall. 

  • Interaction with the public is encouraged. Please be courteous in sharing recipe and preparation information and bring a list of ingredients for questions related to allergies.

  • All ingredients must be combined, chopped, sliced, diced and cooked off site including garnishes and marinades. For safety reasons, all ingredients and product must be stored at the correct temperatures.

  • Wilmington Works is not responsible for accidents or damage that may occur during the event.

  • All judging decisions are final.

  • Prizes 1st = $250; 2nd = $100;  Creative = $50, Traditional = $50,   Best Decorated Display $50.   

  • Judging:  The People’s choice- attendees opt to participate as judges for a $5.00 Fee.  They will be provided one vote per person.  They will receive chips to use while sampling the entrees.

  • Proceeds from Sale to benefit Jr. Iron Chef team.
